European Championships Schedule

Format and Rules

The tournament follows a knockout system: in each weight category, the draw determines the boxers’ path to the final. Winners of each bout advance to the next round.

The winner of the final receives a gold medal, the runner-up gets silver, and both losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals. Once a boxer loses a match, they cannot compete again in the same tournament.

Each bout – for both men and women – consists of three rounds of three minutes each, with a one-minute break between rounds.

The five judges decide the winner of each round based on three scoring criteria:

  • Number of scoring punches
  • Technical and tactical superiority
  • Fighting spirit

Scoring follows the “Ten Point Must” system: judges award 10 points to the winner of a round, while the loser receives 9 or fewer points depending on performance.

Boxers wear protective gloves to prevent injuries; hitting an opponent below the belt or at the back of the head (neck area) is strictly prohibited.

The tournament is conducted under the World Boxing Competition Rules.
